Anyone interested in being my 'chess buddy'?

I am a beginner in chess and I mostly lose. I would like to make friends here whom I can practice regularly with so that we both improve !
I suck too! But Lichess helped me a lot. Do the puzzles. They taught me good stuff.
The only way to get better is to play and pratice, but ok i will freind you I also am looking for new strategys and tactics, maybe we can help each other:)
Piece of advice from on how to spend your time.

A) The most important, so start here: learn endgames BY HEART. Tactical skill does not help you if you do not know what endgames to aim for. Yes, it can be quite tedious work, but doing it together with someone else will lighten the burden, and you will be oh so glad that you did. A major advantage awaits over most other players, who do not put in the time, and proper studies will make ALL OTHER ASPECTS of the game much easier to master.

B) Do puzzles like a maniac. Meaning frequently, meaning instead of playing. Chess IS tactics. It is what decides games. The lichess training feature and chesstempo.com are excellent.

Openings? Forget about spending time on it, until you are 2000. IT IS MOSTLY A WASTE OF TIME. Games are not decided by opening-play, but by tactics and endgame-knowledge. Only on the higher levels is opening-studies relevant.

This is advice I would have given to a younger self.
Well, for the true _beginner_ I'd say you shouldnt expect to get better just through play. You need to learn the basic principles too. This includes the concepts of:

pins, forks, discovered attack/discovered check, tempo
piece value and positional values
pawn chains, passed pawns, edge pawns vs center pawns
opening principles (foothold in the center, which pieces to bring out and in what order)
special movement rules: castling and en passant
basic end game principles
common checkmating positions (e.g. king trapped on back rank)

"Study" all those things. Really easy to do (a few hours really) and will provide a quick leg up. *Then* play a lot of games and do tactics puzzles.

I'm not a particularly good chess player, take my advice with a grain of salt. But I do believe it is those things above (and others which I may have missed) which can permit even a no-talent beginner to pulverize any player who is totally green and only knows the names of the pieces.

#4 and #5 got some points, except regarding to the openings. I think u should have at least some very basic opening knowledge in your repertoire. Speaking for myself I have little to know clue of openings and often blunder on the first moves.. but thinking about its its almost always a tactic issue.
yes, chesstempo is great site for puzzles and endgame practice, u should definitely check them out. I'm also sucking at chess now more than ever since I havent been playing for a couple of years now.. until recently when i discovered lichess.
And ive recently tackled on john nunns book 'Learn Chess'. It has very basic concepts but its explained very well, very easy to understand and a lot of golden nuggets to take away. I think it will suit u well so check it out.
Anyhow, I startet following you kleynah. Looking forward to play some games together :)
Interesting. Fischer was a fascinating person, you should check out the documentary 'bobby fischer against the world' if u havent already.
But the most amazing trap ive seen so far is the Lasker trap (www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_ED8vrQQlM). ChessNetwork always delivers intersting and very well explained chess videos, you should check them out too :)
I love the trap and the videos are very good quality and easy to understand :)
