Reasons to be Cheerful

US Dentist hunts and kills tourist attraction lion in Zimbabwe. Luckily the dentist had a permit - unluckily, for the lion it would appear, the tour guides didn't. Just who the hell expects an 'honest hunting' trade in Zimbabwe? If the guy doesn't do time somewhere - you know it's corrupt!
This whole case is totally baffling. He paid $50,000 just to shoot a defenceless animal? That's... it? Why is there even a trade in this? Even if it were somehow morally justifiable, why would you PAY instead of just going and getting it?

The whole thing is just absurd. I understand that you can live on that money for life in Zimbabwe, but the lengths they'll go are totally lacking in dignity.
I've always wondered what Lion tastes like. A lot of muscle, sure, but there has to be some good meat in the beast.

It's like suicide. What thinking man has never once contemplated suicide? To imagine is not to act, regardless of what the Bible may say.
Pensi estas fari kelke; kiom estas mondo, sed produkto de imagado kaj fantazio? morala pravigo povas fari ambaŭ, kaj kvankam vi rajitas senti certan moron, ne moro estas korekta.

(And yes, that is, before anyone asks, Esperanto.)
Very good quote. Of course there are illusions of opposites, thought and action being one of these dichotomies.
Still-- "Seeing things as similar and making them the same is the mark of weak eyes."
