Does bullet harm chess-playing ability?

So, right now, I play bullet or sometimes blitz because due to time constraints and stuff, I can't play longer games. I plan on eventually going back to play longer games and if possible OTB too.. Does playing bullet harm classical chess playing? It mostly doesn't improve ability but are there negative effects?

Blitz is fine, you can scan a large field in a short time. I try to play just normal: my normal openings, try to practice calculation and conversion technique. In principle quality chess, but faster. In contrast to that, bullet: playing fast overrules quality. You can‘t even think about playing a small combi.

Rapid & blitz are ok, bullet is rather counterproductive though.

Bullet , Hyperbullet and Ultrabullet are excellent for long-term strategic calculations and deep positional analysis!!

However , the ultras are the best community... They quarrel , curse each other , discuss about pings , laggers , flaggers , mouse technology... Oh , they never talk about chess , they might as well play Domino or Monopoly!!

You'll get all different opinions about this. The best advice is do what you enjoy and see what happens. If you have goals in classical chess but you find that speed is hurting your game, stop playing speed. It's not like playing a lot of blitz or bullet will do irrevocable damage to your skills.

Personally, I would think that a bullet could harm your chess ability, at least when emitted from a firearm. ;)

But in all seriousness, bullet gives you very little time for learning or improving. You'll end up making the same mistakes dozens of times and may get stuck in a rut, chesswise. Still, it is fun. So do what you want.

I stop playing bullet because I was playing poor quality games. Therefore I think bullet can ruin your chess. Especially you get used to move and dont calculate even one move ahead by your opponent. This is all but chess.
However if u want to play for fun... Its a good entertainment =D

Bullet can harm some players skills. On the other hand bullet is pretty good for practice in time trouble situations, and that's about it.

Improved with bullet. Se more and Many positions in a fast and repetition way.

Using it for deliberate practice is good, but using it as a slot machine is bad.
