Copying user names in forum messages

It seems the agreed way to reply to people is to quote their name with the @, as this generates a notification to them.

However is there a convenient way to get these user names in the messages? If you try to copy-paste the user name from the line above their message, it makes a mess because you can't copy just the user name. If you drag the name to your message (which only works if it's the last message) you get an URL to their profile, so that's not good either.

I end up typing names, but it's not convenient and errors are introduced. It'd be nice to have a quick and easy way to copy in one's message the username of the author of any message in the thread.
Instead of adding a feature to copy the name, I'd suggest to show a dropdown when you type the '@' sign, containing the usernames of the people in the thread, allowing you to easily select one.

Yes I can
I like @ProgramFOX idea as well, though I'm not sure how this doesn't count as adding a feature to copy the name. Maybe there would be something simpler, like slightly changing the HTML code of the author line so that the author name can easily be selected without selecting the rest!

@jimj12 How do you do it, if I try I get:

Ideally there would be an "answer" button at every post. So you answer to that post specifically and that could automatically notify the guy.
Though, even if you don't write @name he still gets that notification on the left of start page...
@jimj12 Thanks. You seem to be using Chrome. It doesn't work in Firefox. The rest is also selected.
I stopped using firefox last year. It's been going downhill for a while and the good forks aren't always stable
I'm already using Google and Gmail all the time, so I figured I'd keep something not Google...
