The most principled journalist and publisher of our times is incarcerated in a London max-security prison without being found guilty of anything.

After 7 years of arbitrary detention (UN-ruling) in the Ecuadorian embassy, a world-wide smear campaign focussing on allegations, Svedish police made up against the will of two involved women, he was illegally arrested in the embassy 14 month ago. The arrest violated Ecuadorian, British and intl. law. He was arrested for bail violation despite just having sought and being granted political asylum. This asylum was reasoned perfectly to avoid exactly what is happening now.

After finishing the unjustified and hugely irregular 50 week sentence for 'bail violation' he is being held at that same max-security prison for 10 month now without being convicted of anything.
Additionally his health situation is critical as various doctors as well as the UN's special rapporteur on torture, Nils Melzer, found. He doesn't get adequate treatment, has not seen his lawyers for several month and is awaiting a Kangoroo court trial on an extradition request by the US.

Plug this in your head: The US is demanding extradition for an Australian, that never worked in the US, purely for doing outstanding journalism. Read the ridiculous charges yourself! They try to criminalize and punish standard journalistic practices with 175 years in prison. This is happening in the middle of Europe. The devastating effects on journalism can already be seen. It's impossible to overstate the importance of this tragedy and the consequences for all of us.

This show trial is scheduled to resume on 7th of September, while the British judiciary has already shown it's contempt for the rule of law on countless occasions. The supervising judge's family itself is in bed with US intelligence services. The appointed judge is reading prepared rulings making a mockery of the defense's arguments.
