Lichess disconnected and I lost the game

Hi,

I was in a better position when the site went down.

Not a very regular affair. I was doing well in this game. Can you do something about similar situation. I mean the way the points are awarded.
The downside of any new rule must factor that people may disconnect when in a losing position.
This also happened to me yesterday.

Ordinarily it wouldn't be any big deal because you can always
win a few more games in a row to get your rating somewhat closer to where it would have been if you hadn't lost the points,

but in my case, when it happened to me, I had just accepted a challenge from an opponent rated several hundred rating points lower than me, so I lost many more points than normal when my won game was counted a loss due to the site's application error or whatever the problem was.

The bad news is I don't think our points will be restored even if we show a link to the game.

I think this should be changed.

There should be an acceptable way to challenge an incorrect result where an admin can manually correct the results, even if it affects the entire pool, because the fact of the matter is, the entire pool was already incorrectly affected when the win was incorrectly counted a loss. So any perceived damage would actually only be a help with restoration of a more accurate result for all.

The good news is, based on today's experience, it appears yesterday's problems (were only temporary and have been debugged/corrected?) are now a thing of the past and everything appears to be running smoothly again.

I hope to see this continue, but I am still very firm in resolve the points unfairly deducted from the games with losses unfairly counted due to site error should be reversed in the archives/games database or altogether deleted.

Even if Lichess is the first and/or only site to handle this correctly with the record/points/games updates, it would show the chess playing community at large, there is at least one site admin who values accuracy, correctness and fair recording of game results even if it is inconvenient to update with the corrections.

If Lichess fails to deliver on their duty to correct the unfair results due to their own site errors, it will show loud and clear they do not value a fair result for all players.

I was over it before it was it. I may or may not play chess again. Stay under it. "Get over it" isn't an acceptable solution. But if you believe it is, then correct the records and if you don't want to, then get over it and do it anyway.
It's happened to lots of us. I lost about 5 games during the 'crisis'. You get the points back under Glicko2 because, as a slightly lower rated player you win proportionately more points when you play against the same level of player as you played against previously.

So really, don't let it affect you. Win 'em back. That's what I'm doing and what pretty much everyone else is doing. It's no big deal.
