This Thread Has Been Closed!

I have observed that so many topics have been closed in the forums. Why are they being closed? And what rights do we have as members of the Lichess community? Is the freedom of speech exercisable in here? Questions like: Could we require and acquire any statement from the Administrators, if a thread is to be closed? How they manage this case? I experienced namely that they closed a topic without saying any information to it.
I strongly stand for the constitution " Die Würde des Menschen ist unantastbar" : translation: "Human dignity is inviolable". Let's respect one another in here.
Interesting topic. I don't know what the protocol is, but I imagine moderators are allowed to exercise their discretion and close a thread if they judge it to be unproductive (e.g., a discussion between two members that has devolved into squabbling; been there, done that) or unhelpful to the Lichess community (e.g., unconstructive complaining or trolling about Lichess).

Which thread was closed that you felt should not have been?

Freedom of speech doesn't give you a right to insult others. Don't use offensive language, don't shame anyone publicly, keep it civil and there will not be any reason to delete anyone's posts or close anyone's threads. It's that simple.
@Overplay What on earth are you talking about?
Grundgesetz has as little to do with Lichess as the omerta or Youtubes privacy policy.
You should read a little bit about the topic and find out what "freedom of speech" means.
Lichess is thibaults website not a public forum in germany.
Und bitte, bitte arbeite an deinem Englisch kann man fast nicht entziffern.
It seems that if a post is inactive for a month it closes, and if a post gets very long it also closes. As I understand it it's to avoid having the servers overloaded with posts.
There are closed threads and some threads are even deleted (hidden from public.) As a mod (not here) I can tell: one calls is "moderation". In my opinion they could even do more.

The freedom of postings of individuals ends there where more and more people are bothered. The list ist long: personal stuff, discussing cheating, endless rows... The moderation will finally close such useless or counter-productive threads, people can work out in the other "chessical" threads.

@Overplay freedom speech in most legislations means that you free to express your opinion without goverment cencorship. And thats about it. As long as the German goverment does not do prior checks to your posting your rights are not violated. In particula free speech does not imply
- some is obliged to give you a forum for expressing your opinions
- freedom from punishment in case what you say constitutes a crime (hate speech, treason by releasing secret information)
Freedom of speech means to me that in a community or in a system, I can say my opinion and no one that are in higher authority (whom they think) can just trash it just like that, like what I have experienced here. I have always been modest to my words what I write in a forum is always well thought!
@#4 don't be a trottl! Germany is a big enough nation, and when this site is open for everybody in all over the world, the laws of the land applies! It is you who has no idea of what you are talking about. I you insulting my english is not nice of you, it shows what kind of a person you are.
My claim is about decent post ( topics that have just been posted!) has been removed without notifying the OP. I only suggest that in the future this behaviour should change. Also the term being used as ' bullshit' might not be bullshit for others at all: that us Relative - what is for you is nonsense is for the other might be very important, if wisdom applied. I know what I am talking about in here. Do not just remove, especially 'new threads' , posts, topics in the forum automaticaly without informing us. Be kind.
This thread has nothing to do under "General chess discussion", I suggest to close it.
